Situated in the highlands of the Chiapas region, Tenejapa is known for its rich indigenous culture and natural beauty. The Tzotzil Maya people form the predominant indigenous community in Tenejapa. They have a deep-rooted cultural heritage and maintain traditional customs and practices.

Coffee production is an important economic activity in Tenejapa. The high altitude, favorable climate, and volcanic soils contribute to the production of delicious specialty coffee. Coffee farms in Tenejapa often follow sustainable and organic practices, emphasizing quality and environmental stewardship.

We’ve been impressed with the quality of the coffees from this region year after year. And that makes sense! The region contains all the textbook conditions for success: heirloom coffee varieties, high altitude, and passionate people who want to produce high-quality coffee.

In the cup, this exemplary Mexican coffee has subtle hints of citrus along with notes of milk chocolate, graham cracker and a subtle nuttiness. The medium roast level also brings out a caramel-like sweetness.
